5. Add Rows and Duplicate Formulas

Playback Speed:
Transcript

In this video, you will copy the formulas you created in the last video to reuse with other products.

You will add at least two more rows for products and research their costs.

Search the internet for additional products and plans.

Enter the name of the product in the spreadsheet.

Research specifics of the product and plan like you did before, and enter the data in the sheet.

Every website is different, so it may take you a few minutes to find the same information.

Next, copy the formulas for “Total Plan Cost” and “Total Cost” from the first row.

Click on a cell to view the formula.

Then, click on the cell handle--the small box in the corner of the cell.

Drag the box down several rows.

A box appears around all the selected cells.

Release the mouse button.

The spreadsheet duplicates the formula in the selected cells using relative cell references.

Click on one of the new formula cells.

The cells referenced in the formula change according to where the formula is.

Repeat this process for “Total Cost.”

Research at least three more products.

Use a wide range of search terms.

For example, search “cheapest cell phone plan” or “best camera phone” to find more information.

Get creative!

Create a new row for each product and add information to the spreadsheet.

As you enter data, your “total cost” cells will update automatically.

Then, move on to the next video to use the spreadsheet to help you make a decision.

Now, it’s your turn: Research more phones on different websites.

Add columns for details you haven’t already listed in your spreadsheet.

Copy the formulas to other rows by dragging the cell handle.

When you’ve researched at least 3 products, move on to the next video.
