Learning another language is a valuable experience for many reasons.
Each time you practice speaking, you improve your communication skills.
It makes art and entertainment from different countries more enjoyable.
For example, watching a movie in its original language, rather than with subtitles, is an interesting and fun experience.
Learning a new language helps you connect with people.
You gain insights into their culture and can talk with people you otherwise would never have met.
You can make the most of travel experiences.
When you visit another country with even a basic understanding of the local language, your time there will be much more rewarding.
And, learning another language can help you succeed in your future career.
Many companies today do business in several countries and need to hire globally minded people with language skills.
Even at smaller companies, your ability to speak a second language can distinguish you from other applicants.
Knowing a few of the most common words is a great way to start learning another language.
In this lesson, you will explore new words using Google Translate.
It works by taking the word that you enter, then searching the internet for the best translation.
The Google Translate function in Google Sheets makes it possible to translate many words at once, rather than having to enter and search for them 1-by-1.
You will start by translating the fifty most common English nouns into another language of your choosing using Google Translate.
Then, you will select 5 words to learn more about.
You will: Practice the proper pronunciation of each word...
And create flashcards for the words in Google Slides to help you study.
