Transcript

In this video, you will create a dropdown menu to track your progress.

To do this, you will use data validation. Data validation allows you to limit the contents of a cell.

It allows you to provide options in a dropdown list, so that only certain information can be entered in a cell.

For example, you may want to limit status updates to Started or Finished.

This allows you to easily see which tasks are still outstanding.

Then, as you work on your tasks, choose a status from the dropdown menu to track your progress.

To begin, go to your spreadsheet and use data validation to create text or number options in a dropdown menu for the Status column.

Type answer choices for this column, like Not Started, In Progress, and Complete.

Create choices for your dropdown menu that will help you track your study goals.

Then, select a status for each task in your spreadsheet.

Now it’s your turn: Set up data validation for a column, and use the dropdown menu to complete the column for each item.

Instructions

  1. Set up data validation for a column.
  2. Use the dropdown list to complete the column for each item.
