7. Add Images and Section Background Colors

Playback Speed:

In this video, you will add images and section background colors to your website.

Images and backgrounds bring attention to important parts of your site.

Just like with text, it’s helpful to choose images and backgrounds that strengthen your message, not distract from it.

To begin, open a new tab in your browser and go to images.google.com Search for a term related to your issue.

Search for the image and make sure you have the right to use the image.

When you find an image you like, click on the link.

Then, right click on the image to copy the image address.

Return to your website and paste the address.

You can also upload your own images from your computer or mobile device.

For example, you might have your own picture of a park or other location you’d like to use.

Another example might be using photos of vegetables and flowers if you’d like people to join in planting a garden.

If you use personal photos that include identifiable people, make sure you have permission to use them on a public website.

Also, remember to not share any personal pictures with identifying information.

Insert more images in your website...

...and resize them if you’d like.

Finally, since you added images, it might be harder now to read the text.

Change the background colors of your text so they are easier to read.

This helps draw attention to the most important content of your website.
