1. Create a Meeting Agenda

Playback Speed:

Meetings are a necessary part of conducting business, planning projects, and sharing ideas and information.

Most people are familiar with meetings that take place at work, but meetings are useful for any type of group.

You might attend a meeting for an organization, a community association, or a social committee you are involved with.

Meetings are an important tool that can be used to brainstorm ideas, make decisions, inspire enthusiasm for a group mission, or develop a common purpose.

In this activity, you will use Google Docs to plan an effective meeting.

You will create an agenda template that can be reused for multiple meetings; use your template to prepare an agenda for a meeting; share the agenda with others; request input on the agenda, and respond to comments; and use the agenda to conduct your meeting, take notes, and assign action items.

While the size, purpose, and structure of meetings may differ, effective meetings have the following elements in common: they have a clear purpose; they start and end at a specific time; the topics discussed are relevant to those attending the meeting; and attendees understand what is expected of them before, during, and after the meeting.

Holding an effective, efficient meeting helps your attendees feel valued and appreciated.
