In this extension, you will ask a friend, family member, or classmate for feedback on
your Asking for a Raise document.
Getting feedback from another person can help you improve your document before you ask for
a raise.
They might find details you missed, point out things that should be clarified, or make
suggestions that will help your raise request be more successful.
To start, open a new tab in your browser,
then open your document from Google Drive.
If you can’t find your document, do a search.
Then, share your document.
You might share it with a friend, family member, or classmate, or someone who has a job similar
to yours.
Type the recipient’s email address in the field.
Then, set your sharing permissions.
“Edit” lets people type directly in your document.
“View” means they can see your document, but can’t make changes.
“Comment” lets them enter comments that you can address and resolve.
Set your sharing permissions to “Comment.”
Or, get a shareable link,
and give the recipient commenting permission.
Then, copy the link and paste it into an email.
Include a note asking for feedback.
Be specific about what you would like the person to do and comment on.
Once the person you shared with gives their feedback, their comments will show up in your
document.
Then, you can decide whether to incorporate their feedback or use it to inform your conversation
with your supervisor.
If your document contains information you don’t feel comfortable sharing, don’t
share your document.
Perhaps read the important details aloud to someone instead to get verbal feedback.
