In this video, you will learn how to track conversions.

Conversions are actions people take on your website, like: Making a donation, Signing up for a newsletter, Or sharing a post.

Tracking conversions allows you to measure how people interact with your ads.

You can use this information to understand which parts of your campaign are the most effective at getting conversions.

This helps you improve your campaign.

There are two ways to track conversions.

You can track conversions by adding H-T-M-L tags to your website to measure people’s activity.

When people engage with pages on your site where the code is placed, the code records the actions they take.

Or, you can use Google Analytics to track conversions.

Google Analytics is a free tool that tracks and reports website traffic.

You need to link Google Analytics to your Smart Campaign to track conversions.

To begin, start Google Analytics.

If you don’t already have Analytics on your website, you’ll be prompted to add the tracking ID to your website’s content management system.

Another way of linking Google Analytics is to insert a code snippet, which is a small line of code, into your website's source code.

To view detailed instructions about these two options, pause this video and open the Conversion Tracking Support document linked on this page.

To understand campaign effectiveness, such as which ads get someone to take an action, identify pages on your website that users see right before or after they perform a key action.

Choose the conversion that represents the most valuable action you want people to take.

For example, the donation thank you page or the confirmation page for a newsletter signup.

Once your tracking ID or code snippet is set up, your goal-tracking information will show up on your dashboard.

Google Ads accounts linked to Google Analytics will automatically import and enable conversions for all Google Ads campaigns.

If you have multiple Smart campaigns, once you link your account to Google Analytics, all other Smart campaigns will automatically become linked as well.

You’ll now be able to access your Analytics data in Google Ads or login to Google Analytics to see more site data.

Now, it’s your turn: Link your Google Ads account to Google Analytics, Email the code to your Webmaster or implement it yourself, Choose one or multiple conversions to track, And use the Conversions section to see what people do on your website.
