who do not have the right experience for a job.
Those programs narrow down the pool of applicants so that employers have fewer resumes to review.
Using keywords from the job description helps your resume reach an employer.
If you have a particular job that you want to apply for,
use keywords from the job posting to describe your previous work experience.
To edit your resume to fit a specific job description, you will:
To begin, open your resume.
Then, read the description of the job you are applying for.
If the description is online, open the advertisement in another tab or window.
If you don’t have a specific job to apply for, you can search for
a job that is similar to your past work experience or a job you might like to have.
Read the job description carefully. Look for:
Choose at least 3 keywords in the job description to put in your resume.
Next, add comments in your resume about how your previous experience relates to those skills.
Add at least 1 comment for each keyword.
For example, if part of the new job is to “promote the company's brand online,”
think about examples of marketing skills in your work experience.
Or, if the new job requires “excellent customer
service,” think about your specific accomplishments helping and serving people.
Use keywords from the job description as often as
you can in your resume to show you're a great fit for the job.
Add a summary statement to your resume.
Change the formatting of your resume.
Use suggestion mode to edit your resume.
Save your resume as a PDF file so it’s ready to send to an employer.
