4. Use Google Hangouts to Teach Your New Digital Skill
In the previous video, you invited your partner to a meeting in Google Calendar.
In this video, you will join the meeting using Google Hangouts.
Then, you will teach your new digital skill to your partner.
To begin, decide whose meeting you will enter first.
Then, to start it, open the event in your calendar.
Next, click the Hangouts link.
When your partner joins your meeting, you will see their face on your screen.
You will hear them speaking, and they will hear you.
If you cannot hear each other, test your headphone connection and the volume on your device.
Or, to make your video call louder or softer, adjust the volume on your device.
If you do not want your partner to hear you speaking, mute your microphone.
This is also a good practice for reducing background noise in meetings with many attendees.
If you want, turn off your video for a moment.Your partner will be able to hear you but not see you.
Now, decide with your partner if they will demonstrate their new skill first or if you will.
Then, share your screen.
If you choose to share your entire screen, anything you do on your computer screen-- in any open window -- will show on your partner’s screen too.
If you choose to share a window, like your web browser or another app, they willonly see the window you share.
Choose to share a window.
Then, open another tab in your browser, and open the app you used when you learned yournew skill: Gmail, if you chose direct messaging,Google Docs, if you learned about commenting, Or Google Drive, if you set up a shared folder.
Begin teaching your partner the skill you learned.
Your partner will be able to follow along as you progress through teaching the skill.
When you are done, stop presenting your screen.
Hang up to exit the hangout.
Now, repeat the steps to start the meeting from the other calendar so the other partnercan teach their skill.
Great work teaching your partner a new digital skill!
