In this extension, you will practice bolding, italicizing,
or underlining a word or words in a new email.
Email programs are set to automatically type text in a particular style...
...so any email you write will look the same unless you change its formatting.
You can use formatted text to make something you want to emphasize
stand out from the rest of your email.
To start, return to your inbox and begin composing a new email to yourself.
Again, you’re just practicing so the email could be about anything.
Add a greeting and first line.
Remember that you should get to the main point right at the beginning...
...and be polite and professional.
When your email is finished, think about a word or words that might benefit from special formatting.
Use the bold...
...italicize...
...or underline icons for emphasis.
While text formatting is a great way to make your email stand out, it’s important not to
go overboard, especially when you’re trying to make a good impression with an employer.
Know that you don’t need to change the
text formatting at all if there is nothing to emphasize in your email.
